This wine used to be made with 100% American oak, but we find that the focus has been sharpened by a move to seasoned French oak, with just 10% new American oak in the mix. The nose gives a cool, spicy impression with a herbal tinge over red cherries and darker fruits. The palate is relatively calm and sleek with good definition. It’s medium-bodied and straight through the mouth, with some tighter blue fruit and blackcurrant notes framed by silky but firm, spicy, currant-like tannins.
